As We Live Dying - Forest Fires

Silver Key, Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2023

This piece depicts the chaos and terror of animals fleeing through smoke and flames. My goal was to capture the emotional and physical destruction of wildfires on animals and challenge humanity’s negligence toward the natural world.

As We Live Dying - Ocean Pollution

Gold Key, Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2022

This piece portrays the horrifying reality of ocean pollution. Sea turtles are strangled by plastic, birds are coated in oil, and fish swim through a sea of waste. I aimed to confront the consequences of our overconsumption and urge people to protect our oceans before it’s too late.

As We Live Dying - Polar Crisis

A fearful polar bear roars against a melting Arctic landscape. The breaking ice and falling cubs represent the accelerating collapse of ecosystems as global temperatures rise. Through the medium of paint and canvas, I envision awareness, empathy, and a call to action.

As We Live Dying

As We Live Dying is a three-part watercolor painting series portraying the planet’s gradual decline. It aims to serve as a striking reflection on how global warming, forest fires, and ocean pollution are destroying animal habitats and threatening the lives of wildlife worldwide.

Curiosity

Honorable Mention,Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2024
A cat lunges into the frame with a playful tongue-out pose, exploring the world with fearless curiosity. Warm, soft, pastel light filters out from between the trees, evoking comfort and wonder.

Kin

A charcoal “family portrait” depicts a bustling kitchen in shadow and light. Cooks trade pans and smiles, timing each move with each other’s. The piece portrays the process of cooking as a form of trust that turns coworkers into family.

Discovery

The skeleton of a mysterious sea creature of ink and watercolor etched onto coffee-stained, creased paper. The piece recreates the feeling of an old naturalist’s notebook, as if experiencing the thrill of documenting a newly discovered species for the very first time.

It Breathes

A plaster cast of my face is set into a sculpted clay book. My handwriting scrawls over the pages. The piece shows a story coming to life, that words don’t sit still on the page. They gather breath and take the shape of their story, the face as the voice of the text.
